As we begin the Mini Workshop Series of Journaling classes, it is recommended that you take the
journal making workshop first to make your own personal journal. In this workshop we will build a
basic journal that is well suited to many a journaling adventure.  The journal opens flat, is extremely
durable and the substrate for the pages holds up well to wet mediums. If you decide to work in
another journal, keep in mind that when imagery is provided for a workshop, it has been specifically
designed and sized for this journal.

This will be a 2-3 hour workshop.  It will have a small number of students so that
we will have plenty of space for spreading out to prepare our journal. As a class fills, a new one will
open up.

For this journal, we will begin by making a cover from sturdy vintage stock report
folders.  Pages will be given a base coat of paint and we will discuss how pages should be prepared
at home in advance of the journaling workshops in order to save class time.  Journal will be bound
with a simple Long Stitch method of binding. The journal cover can be collaged at a later date.

All supplies for this journal making workshop will be provided.  Materials fee included in the
workshop price.

These workshops may be repeated if there is interest.
In most cases, classes will be on Wednesdays or Saturdays.
Please come with your Journal and a prepared spread as outlined in the Journal Making Workshop.
Prepping your pages at home saves limited class time for journal work instead.

While most materials will be provided. It is recommended that you bring a few paints, paper scraps and washi tapes in colors you like
to work with. Bringing a few brushes in 1/2" and 1/4" sizes plus a detail brush are a good idea as well.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before class is scheduled to begin.
Each journaling workshop should last 2-3 hours.
You will be welcome to stay longer to work on your spread if another class is not scheduled.

A small kit fee will be added to each class to cover incidentals and/or material fees (This will be added to the cost of your workshop at
the time of sign up). Class related collage sheets or tools may be available for an additional charge after class.

We will try to cover a new technique in each class. Students will be given a small recommended supply list.
If you don't have a certain supply or tool, we usually have extras in the studio to share.
