Open Spine Journal 1-19-25, Sunday

 
 
A quirky mixed media delight! This workshop focuses on the construction of this unique mixed media journal. The cover is made of wood with reinforced hinges.  Pages are made of cardstock, file folders and cardstock. Finished size is 9" tall.
The first 2 photos are of the journal we will be making.  The remainder of the photos are Open Spine Journals I have made in the past showing various techniques used to finish them.  Additional workshops may be offered to learn these techniques.
Finishing techniques will be discussed and samples will be on hand to study and photograph.  This is a great project to work on at the Open Studios offered at Running Rabbit or to work on alone.
Many supplies included, but please bring –
Book cover - Structure is made of wood (supplied), but we will be covering it with paper.  My recommendation is gel prints or scrap booking weight papers.
Pages - Please bring some of your favorite card stock, file folders or medium weight papers. Equivalent to 15 sheets at 8 1/2" X 11"
Fabric - 2 Fabric strips  3” X 6” to cover book structure spine.
